The NUS Student Exchange Programme (SEP) provides students with the opportunity to study in an overseas partner university, usually for a semester or two, with approval of the School, to further enhance their learning experience. Students from either partner university pay fees only at their home institution while on exchange. The new experience provided by SEP is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that will enrich the life of the student forever. Some of the partner universities include Uppsala University, University of British Columbia, McGill University, University of California, University of Melbourne and University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

Our students share their experience while on SEP ...

  Yi Suqin
  Chinese University of Hong Kong

"....CUHK is in New Territories (one of the island in HK), personally I think this is the best campus in HK as the environment is wonderful! It is a big campus with wonderful facilities like gym, tennis court, indoor basketball / badminton / table tennis court and etc, fresh air everyday and lastly you see mountains everyday!!

For the first month, I get to meet so many people, mainly from my hall and other exchange students. Students from all over the world came to this school and during the welcome dinner, students from different countries, different schools are grouped together to seat in one table. English is our common language, but soon we get to hear people speaking in Dutch, French, Mandarin or some other languages..."

"...Overall, there are a lot of "first time" and a lot of unforgettable events. Such experiences are precious and meaningful. I strongly encourage everyone to walk out of his or her comfort zone and go for exchange. even if it means graduating a semester later, it still worth it! (But if you map your modules well, you will still graduate as per normal).

Financial problem is not an issue, throughout this whole SEP, I did not take a single cent from my parents. You can always apply for SEP award and SEP loan. (With these two, you can at least go to Asia countries like HK/China).."

  Leong Hanyang
  University of California - Davis

"....Going on a Student Exchange Program to University of California, Davis in United States is one of the highlights of my time in NUS. The decision to embark upon this exchange program definitely took me a great deal of consideration and planning but on looking back, it has definitely been a positive and greatly enriching one..."

"..Interestingly, there is also a large proportional of foreign students, both international full time students as well as exchange students, here, which greatly adds to the vibrancy of the university community. In fact, it was pretty common to be walking around in campus and overhear conversations in Korean, Japanese, Chinese and Cantonese all around. It was truly a global university in that sense..."
