  Special Programme in Computing

The Special Programme in Computing provides opportunities for highly selected students from the School of Computing to pursue in-depth computing studies with a strong research focus, within small groups.

Highly motivated students in the programme work in Special Interest Groups (SIG) to learn and understand an area, and perform research under the guidance of School of Computing faculty members.

Students are also encouraged and given the opportunities to organize SIG activities, teach junior students and participate in activities outside the university such as conferences and competitions. Through these activities and the research focus, the programme aims to produce confident and resourceful graduates who are passionate about Computing and excel generally in their endeavors.

Students in the programme do at least three year-long research projects: one in their final year, one as part of Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme (UROP) and one in second year as part of two specially designed courses that introduce them to research work. Admission to the programme is done after one semester of study at the School.
