ELIGIBILITY

All polytechnic candidates who are admitted in the academic year 2008-2009 for a course in COMPUTING or COMPUTER ENGINEERING. Given your diploma, we advise you to apply to sit for the relevant Computing placement tests for modules you are not automatically exempted. The maximum modular credits that could be exempted is capped at 20 modular credits for Programme requirements.

INSTRUCTIONS TO ALL CANDIDATES

Please bring along the following for the advanced placement test:
(i) your matriculation card, if any, or other supporting documents
(ii) your identity card,
(iii) a 2B pencil, and
(iv) a non-programmable calculator

TEST FORMAT

Candidate (returning NSman) may register for advanced placement tests for the following modules from programme requirements up to a total of 20 modular credits under Programme requirements (including credits granted under item (iii) of above exemption scheme.)

CS1101, CS1102, CS1104, CS2102, CS2102S, and CS2105

Each module paper consists of 20 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). The time allocated to each module is 1 hour.

GENERAL SCOPE

CS1101 Programming Methodology (5 MCs)

CS1102 Data Structures and Algorithms (5 MCs)

CS2100 Computer Organisation (4 MCs)

CS2102 Database Systems (4 MCs) *

CS2102S Database Systems (5 MCs)

CS2105 Introduction to Computer Networks (4 MCs)

*: Candidates who are granted automatic exemptions for CS2102 may apply to sit for CS2102S placement test. CS2102S credits will be granted upon passing this test and the credits for CS2102 will be forfeited.
