Come 1 July 2008, NUS School of Computing will be 10
years old as a faculty. Yet its history stretches
more than two decades beyond that – to when it was
the Department of Information Systems and Computer
Science (DISCS) in the Faculty of Science, and
before that, the Department of Computer Science in
the Singapore University-Nanyang University Joint
Campus days.
To mark its 10 years of history as a faculty and 33
years of excellence in Computing research and
learning in Singapore, the School has lined up a
series of events from April to August 2008. The
events kicked off with the Official Launch of the
SoC 10th Anniversary Celebrations on 17 August 2008,
which included the unveiling of the celebration logo
(shown left), the screening of a photo montage
outlining the School’s history, the official opening
of the NUS Students Computing Club Student Lounge,
the launch of the NUS Students Computing Club Games
Server and staff-student games (see photo highlights
below).
Look out for more SoC 10th Anniversary Celebrations events,
including:
SoC
10th Anniversary Pool Fest 2008,
SoC
10th Anniversary Freshmen Orientation Project, SoC
10th Anniversary Commemorative Distinguished Speakers Public
Symposium, SoC 10th Anniversary Gala Dinner.
