Professor Ling Tok Wang Named ACM Distinguished Scientist


 

 

 

Prof Ling Tok Wang has been named ACM Distinguished Scientist for 2009. The award is conferred on ACM members with at least 15 years of professional experience and five years of continuous Professional Membership, and who have achieved significant accomplishments or have made a significant impact on the computing field.

ACM is the world’s largest educational and scientific computing society, and it delivers resources that advance computing as a science and a profession.

Prof Ling’s research interests include Data Modeling, Entity-Relationship Approach, Object-Oriented Data Model, Normalisation Theory, Logic and Database, Integrity Constraint Checking, Semi-Structured Data Model, XML twig pattern query processing, and XML keyword query processing.

He has been with NUS SoC since its days as a university department, and has served in various leadership positions including vice dean and department head.
